Helping Area Music Program Thrive is Music to Our Ears. GSB attends Música Franklin's Music Matters Luncheon.

Music brings people together and can be a powerful tool for building confidence and leadership in children. Música Franklin, a non-profit located in Greenfield, MA, gives children in grades first through twelfth grade the opportunity to learn an instrument or participate in a chorus at no cost.

Greenfield Savings Bank (GSB) has been a long-standing supporter of Música Franklin, which is now celebrating their eleventh year as a non-profit. At the annual Music Matters lunch, held on February 4th at Greenfield Community College, Thomas J. Meshako, GSB President and CEO and Peter Albero, who will be stepping into the President and CEO position in March, were recognized for their support of Música Franklin. In their remarks both Thomas and Peter stressed the importance of the work Música Franklin does in the Franklin County community and why the community mission of the bank has been that giving back to our community is vital in what moves us forward.

Orice Jenkins, the Executive Director of Música Franklin said the non-profit is a “safe beacon of light” for the children and teaches them much more than how to play an instrument, but also teaches kindness, teamwork, accountability, and it provides a sense of community all without financial barriers to join. With funding through GSB combined with other donors, and grants the organization can pay for transportation, student snacks and meals, guest artists and musical instruments.
