GSB Names Rebecca Makas SVP, Wealth Management & Trust
Seasoned financial services leader brings relationship-driven approach to GSB’s enhanced wealth management and trust service
Greenfield Savings Bank is pleased to announce that Rebecca M. Makas has joined the bank as senior vice president overseeing GSB Wealth Management and Trust Services.
In her new role, Makas will lead the bank’s new hub for wealth management and trust services in the newly renovated Leavitt-Hovey House at 402 Main St.—unique for its historic, 1797 heritage and its streamlined focus on preserving, growing and transferring wealth.
“Rebecca brings an exceptional depth of experience and a strong relationship-driven approach to her work,” said President and CEO Peter Albero. “Her leadership will play an important role in continuing to grow our trust and wealth management services while staying true to the values that define us as a community bank.”
“Greenfield Savings Bank has built something truly special,” said Makas. “I was immediately impressed by how committed the team is to being a community bank and how proud people are to work here. That combination of strong values and an outstanding reputation made coming on board an easy decision.”
Makas brings more than two decades of experience in financial services and has a background spanning trust services, investment management and banking leadership. She previously served in senior roles at Prudential Financial, including vice president positions in national platform distribution, trust and investment products and as treasurer and Community Reinvestment officer for Prudential Bank & Trust, FSB.
She also held leadership positions in investment management and structured finance early in her career.
Most recently, Makas was founder/principal of RM2WH, a real estate investment company, and a broker associate with Keller Williams Legacy Partners, experience that fine-tuned her entrepreneurial knowledge and commitment to helping individuals build and manage wealth.
“I’ve always believed that banking is ultimately about relationships and responsibility to the people you serve,” Makas said. “Especially in areas like trusts and estate planning, helping people navigate important financial decisions is something I take very seriously. It’s an honor to be part of that process.”
Makas is also passionate about improving access to financial guidance and helping individuals at all stages of life. She noted that wealth management is often misunderstood as a service only for the wealthy or those nearing retirement.
“Many people benefit from guidance earlier than they think,” she said. “Whether it’s saving for the future, planning for family needs or navigating life transitions, having a trusted advisor can make a meaningful difference.”
In the community, Makas serves as a board member and director of programming for All In Recovery Homes LLC. She is also involved in volunteer efforts through the creation of handmade quilts for children in foster care and participants in grief support programs.
Makas holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation and earned both a bachelor of science and an MBA from the University of Connecticut. Originally from Williamstown, she expressed enthusiasm about returning to the region and contributing to the community through her work at Greenfield Savings Bank.
