Raising crucial funds to fight hunger in the region

Greenfield, MA (November 19, 2025) — Greenfield Savings Bank (GSB) proudly matched the first $10,000 in donations to the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts’ March for the Food Bank with Monte, helping generate $12,000 in contributions on the campaign’s opening day. This early support gives the annual fundraising event strong momentum ahead of its official kickoff on November 24.

GSB has supported the March since 2018, helping raise crucial funds and awareness to fight hunger in the region. Donations made during the match day help the Food Bank provide nutritious food to more than 123,000 individuals across the four counties of Western Massachusetts. This support comes at a critical time, as recent delays in SNAP benefit payments have led to a surge in demand for food assistance.

The March officially begins on November 24 at Martin Luther King Family Services in Springfield and will conclude the day in Downtown Northampton at WRSI/Northampton Media Group. On November 25, marchers resume at Congressman McGovern’s office in Northampton and finish at Hawks & Reed Arts Center in Downtown Greenfield. All proceeds from the March directly benefit the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts.
“At Greenfield Savings Bank, we believe in strengthening the communities we serve. Hunger is a challenge no one should face, and the Food Bank’s work is essential to ensuring families have access to nutritious meals,” said Tom Meshako, President & CEO of Greenfield Savings Bank. “We’re proud to support the March for the Food Bank and help kick off this important effort with a strong start.”

“We’re deeply grateful to Greenfield Savings Bank for their steadfast support and generous match,” said Jillian Morgan, Director of Development at the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts. “Their commitment helps ensure the March for the Food Bank begins with strong momentum at a time when more people are turning to us for help. We’re honored to have such a dedicated partner standing with our community and fueling our work to provide nutritious food across Western Massachusetts.”
