Juneteenth Celebrations 2026

Honoring Freedom: Celebrating Juneteenth in Our Community

Each year on June 19, communities across the country come together to commemorate Juneteenth, the day in 1865 when the last enslaved Black Americans in Galveston, Texas learned of their freedom—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. Today, Juneteenth stands as both a celebration of liberation and a moment of reflection—honoring the resilience, culture, and enduring contributions of Black Americans.

Here in Western Massachusetts, Juneteenth has grown into a vibrant, community-centered occasion. From live music and art to educational programming and family-friendly festivals, local events offer meaningful ways to come together, learn, and celebrate. Whether you're looking to engage with history, support Black-owned businesses, or simply enjoy a day of connection and culture, there are many opportunities to participate right here in our region.
